Welcome Message

Welcome to Egypt Cigre.  It is the first port of call for power network know-how.

Cigre is the Council on Large Electric Systems, it is an international non-profit Association for promoting collaboration with experts from all around the world by sharing knowledge and joining forces to improve electric power systems of today and tomorrow.

Cigre counts more than 14000 equivalent members in over 90 countries. This membership is composed of researchers, academics, engineers, technicians, suppliers, and other decision makers, and is supported by 3500 experts actively collaborating in a structured work program.

Today there are more than 250 active Work Groups (WGs) in Cigre, bringing together some 3500 international Experts.

In Egypt, there are over ---- organizations and ----- active members contributing to and leveraging the global network to meet our challenging market and geographic environment.

Egypt Cigre website is established to facilitate the exchange of knowledge between all interested parties in the field of electricity and to report on the latest developments in electrical equipment and networks and to develop and improve the availability of technical information to all interested parties in the field of electricity. All theoretical information shall be supported by real technical experiences which will reflect the actual situation of the electrical system. Encouraging scientific research and technical studies on electrical power systems through the submission of papers and / or participating in Cigre Arab and International conferences.

Activities

Egypt Cigre provides technical knowledge through:

  • Events
  • Permanent technical studies
  • Publications

The Technical Activities of Egypt Cigre consist of organizing technical events and carrying out studies, by means of the Study Committees (SCs).

These SCs are permanent structures of Cigre, governed by precise operative rules, and each of which is active in a specific technical domain. Coordination of the actions of the SCs is the mission of the Technical Committee (TC), whose Chairman reports to the Administrative Council.

The SCs are responsible for determining the technical questions which call for studies and managing the corresponding work. The choice of the subjects is made in line with the strategic objectives of Egypt Cigre, expressed in the Strategic Plan of the TC.

Objectives

  1. Facilitate and develop the exchange of engineering knowledge and information, between engineering personnel and technical specialists in all countries with respect to generation and high voltage transmission of electricity.
  2. Add value to the knowledge and information exchanged by synthesizing state-of-the-art and world practice.
  3. Make managers, decision-makers and regulators aware of the synthesis of Cigre’s work in the area of electric power.
